QR Code - Pocketpedia

Post by deano27 »

We have a library of 5’000 books categorised using UDC that is being entered (slowly but steadily) into Bookpedia. We have small label on the back of each book that shows the UDC number and library location index. This label also has space for a QR code. I would like to be able to open Pocketpedia, go to “Borrowed”, select “Add Book”, activate the camera, scan the QR code to enter key book information sufficient to look up the book in the library and import its data, then complete the borrowed workflow manually.

Any thoughts on the best way to go about this?

I think I figured it out ... there is a simpler way than using a QR Code. Here’s what I did:

1. Open Pocketpedia on the iPhone.
2. Touch the search icon upper left to get “Scan Text”.
3. I framed the "locator field” text on my book label, and selected “Insert” on the iPhone screen - the book appears.
4. Slide left, and select “Move” - select the collection “Borrowed” - contacts appear, select the borrower to add name and date fields.
5. Upper left select “<Library”.
6. Upper left select “<Bookpedia”.
7. Select “Sync” to propagate status to the desktop Bookpedia app.

(Btw, it seems that not performing steps 5 & 6 above results in the Borrowed item not being synced with the desktop app).
