Indicator to show which fields are custom.

Note: The following requests applies to all pedias, in the application Preferences window, under the Fields tab.

I would like the ability to see, at a glance, which fields are custom and which are not. Maybe using some kind of symbol indicator or colour. Currently, the only way for me to know which fields are custom is to click on the field name to see if it lets me edit it. And if I have already renamed it from "Custom 5" (or whatever) it's difficult to remember which fields were the custom ones.

Also, if this window pane can show the field type (checkbox, date, note, etc.) that would be extremely helpful as well.

Thanks.

I thought they already are different: They are written in italic letters, the others in standard, but wait... seems to be some bug there: I just noticed that in my DVDpedia, every field is written in italic, while in my CDpedia, where I did not use any custom fields until now, the normal fields are not. But as soon as I click on them, they get italic as well.
@Conor: Is this really meant to work like that? oO

You're not seeing things - it really did change to all italics, with the El Capitan update I believe. We'll try and fix that for the next release, which should be ready soon.

Thanks for your fast Answer, Nora!
I still use Yosemite, by the way, so El Capitan should not be the only cause.

Fixed for the next version. The old behavior of using italic fonts for the custom fields is back, sorry that one took a while to fix.

Updates in the way Apple handles fonts meant it broke this feature. I was relying on the fact that Apple used to have more basic font handling, to switch the font back to non-italic. Starting with Yosemite they started recognizing variations of fonts in the font API naming and hence the font stayed italic for all the fields.

Thanks from me as well!

Any interest in adding an indicator to show the field data type?

That is interesting, but more complex, I shall consider it.

Since it might not happen, do keep in mind that if you place the mouse over the field and let it hover, it will display the original name, so that you can tell what field it was.

That's a good tip. Didn't know that. Thanks.
