Re: PocketPedia on Italian Store

Yes I agree with the above posters. Please relase PockedPedia again, just leave the Amazon lookup function out of it. I would use the pocked pedia to browse my wish lists while I am in the library (maybe in another town), or to quickly check if I have a certain edition of a book. Actually, most if ...

Re: REQ: SQL-database

Again, way back when I looked at PEAR, there was no option to include it in your own project, it had to be installed on the server since you could not edit the php.ini that pointed to the include files. With ini_set and ini_get you can add paths to your include_path :) For as far as I know it works...

Re: REQ: SQL-database

Hi Alex, Pear is more than an extra layer for a database connection. It can be installed on the server, but you can also download is and include in your project. http://adodb.sourceforge.net/ is only for a database connection an needs to be included in your project. Have a look a the adodb site, you...

Re: REQ: SQL-database

True, but I was thinking that if one is not as familiar with SQLite as with MySql then it might be a pain to learn the subtle differences and might result in a lot of desperate hair pulling  It is probably more of a pain to export your pedia data to MySQL on a regulair basis ;) And with th...

Re: REQ: SQL-database

Why not copy the Sqlite to your website and access the database with, for example PHP? You don't need MySQL.

Maybe this is something for you as a starter:

Re: Amazon Killing Mobile Apps That Use Its Data

We are working on an similar idea to that, with a partial sync for the Amazon data so that users know what items they have and are not mysteriously missing information as this would confuse the majority of users that don't know about the whole sync issue. Especially with all this pressure from our ...

Re: Amazon Killing Mobile Apps That Use Its Data

Hi Conor, Maybe a strange question... But why don't to release an App that only shows data that isn't retrieved from Amazon? You have the info when data is retrieved form Amazon, so you can filter it ;) In that way users who do not use the AWS from Amazon as a resource can keep using the App :D The ...

iTunes like interface

Hi There, I'm exploring Bookpedia and thinking about buying it. I've got a interface question. BookPedia looks in a way like iTunes and other Mac programs, but the interface (left column) is a little bit different. It would be great when the left column would is more like iTunes / Finders / etc. In ...

Re: Amazon Killing Mobile Apps That Use Its Data

Hi There, If anyone has a Amazon e-mail adressen I'll send an e-mail to them and see how they react! For those who have their own website... I wanted to do some testing with SQLite3 (the database behind BookPedia) and iWebKit.net so today I've made and iPhone / iPod web version of a part of the data...

Re: Amazon Killing Mobile Apps That Use Its Data

I wonder why the Hunter Touch iPhone app that syncs with Dvd Hunter (and potential Amazon data) hasn't been pulled from the App Store. Hi SJK, I had the same reaction about Hunter Touch, after sending an e-mail I got this reaction: Hunter Touch doesn't use AWS... so it doesn't violate the new "...
