Upgrade to Leopard?

I am an enthusiastic user of CDpedia, as I have indicate several times on this Forum. I am thinking of an upgrade from Tiger Version 10.4.11 to Leopard; I use an Intel MacBook Pro. Are there advantages for CDpedia users? I have read about Coverflow; is that much more than a pretty gimmick? What abou...

Re: using isight

Thanks for the help, Conor. I can see now what I was doing wrong this morning. I was entering AV 2145 on Arkiv instead of just the four numbers. The catologue number on the CD spine appeared to include the letters too, but I now see that it was just an abbreviation for Avie. As you said, four altern...

Re: using isight

Thanks for all that advise. I updated the details of a large part of my collection using the methods you mentioned. On the Tracks page it was easy to delete the unnecessary things (like long lists of artists for each track) and, where necessary, to type the composer's name on the extreme left, under...

Re: using isight

Thanks for the help, Conor. It would be helpful (to me at least) if there was flexibility in what information could be included. I see now that different CDs give different info, according to what they think is relevant. I have found it useful to delete certain pieces of information, which make it l...

Re: using isight

I couldn't resist trying the substitution of the information from Arkiv. It's really straightforward! One question: The tracks tab has three columns - Name, Composers, Duration. Only Name and Duration appear in the box when in Info mode. Is it possible to include composer as well? And, if so, is it ...

Re: using isight

I enjoy classical music, but my expertise is very limited; I was under the impression that for classical music listeners searching by catalog number was common knowledge among those in the know. Probably those familiar with Arkiv know about the catalog search, but you are correct we should include ...

Re: using isight

Thanks, Conor. That's interesting. I tried entering the numbers of my three new CDs. Two worked immediately; one didn't, but did once I entered the title instead of the number. (Strange, but I won't ask why!) The track list is far more sensible on Arkiv. For the new Horovitz CD, Horowitz in Hamburg:...

Re: using isight

This is my first posting here since my torrent of requests for help when I first started using CDpedia a few weeks ago. First I should say how impressed I was by the help I got, not only from people on this forum, but, especially from Nora in her patient emails explaining what were really very basic...

Re: using isight

This is amazing!!!!! I couldn't resist giving it a try. At first I was a bit bewildered and it took me a while to make the Isight work. I found it was easy to put in the numbers manually, but now I'm getting the hang of the right position for the camera. What a welcome "click" that is when...

Re: using isight

Many thanks for all the advice. I will try it out, but I think it makes sense to wait until I've got a good period of free time to get to grips with it. It sounds tricky, but, like everything else on this Mac, I imagine it will all fall into place - but I will need to feel calm and unrushed to tackl...

Re: using isight

Thanks for the advice. I will certainly give it a try in the next few days. I am sure it will be obvious once I try it. ("Position the bar code across the red lines, so that it fits along the length" sounds complicated! I am sure that these red lines will appear somewhere (?) when I try it!)

Re: using isight

Thanks for the quick reply. Does that mean that the problems I've read about have been solved? Or were you always problem free? Would there be any problem with me still being on Tiger?

Re: using iSight

I have been quietly assessing and comparing the various options for my CD collection over recent months - with absolutely no degree of urgency, since my main concern was to find the system which best suited my predominantly classical collection. Now I am sure that CDpedia is the one for me, I have c...
