Search the forums (or wait till Conor answers). I asked about this, and was given an answer. I can't recall the exact syntax, which you will find if you search, but something like &Title="Movie I am Looking for" will search for the exact title, whereas the simple Movie I am Looking for ...

Try the following.

Click on *another* column to sort by that column.

Now use option-click on the Author column. I have a vague feeling that an immediate option-click does not work.

Use one of the custom columns. Just put y (for 'yes') in that column and then make a smart collection of the items in the column which are marked y.

Here's a trick that speeds it up a touch, though not a huge amount. Begin with using the + button a number of times, as many as you need for the number of entries. That gives you a number of completely blank entries. Then go to the first entry, double-click to select, type in the name and press Tab....

I doubt if that is where the database is. I think it is a cached version, not the main version. The Help pages say that the default location is in ~/Library/Application Support/DVDpedia. You can put the database anywhere you choose on your own drive, and I would guess that it is possible to put it o...

Ewin42, I can see your point. But my inclination would be to always have the data available behind the scenes, and just decide - as one can already - whether or not to view it.

It would be better if you can get rid of the bug and go back to the old behaviour.

For the moment, now that I (and others) know the situation I can live with it.

Included fields

When adding a book, are the only fields actually added those listed in the add/edit preferences? I think I had assumed that all fields would be added if one searched using the ISBN, but that only the listed ones would be shown. I am asking this because out of six books I have recently added to my wi...

Database backup

I just wondered if the automatic monthly backup of the database works when the database isn't in its default location. Obviously, I will see in due course, but that is still some time away.

I hope that it does work. If it doesn't at present, then it should be changed.

The default location for the database is in ~/Library/Application Support/Bookpedia. You could look manually and see if it is still there.

I have just added a book to my 4.0.2 database, so I guess either you are doing something wrong or there is a problem with your download. i would suggest you try the following. 1. Make a backup of your database (in case my suggestion or something else corrupts the original). 2. Hold down Option while...

My own feeling was that the pedias *launch* slower, but certainly save and change faster.

You say here that the pedias make a copy of the database every month. In your help page on Pedia Data Structures you say it saves every week.
