Wi-Fi Barcode Scanners

Post by Ronin »

I am considering gettin a Wi-Fi enabled barcode scanner to use with my DVD & CD collections. I have seen several on Amazon that seem reasonably priced, but I don’t know whether DVD/CD Pediatric are compatible with “generic” scanners or whether there are only a few which have been qualified.

I used to use one of the wired mouse ones, but that was before a move and it wasn’t all that reliable anyway.

I’d appreciate any input on ones that do or do not work with the Pedias.

Here’s one example of the ones I have been looking at.

Have not tested that model but should work out without issue. Most barcode scanners imitate a keyboard and send the numbers as if you typed them out followed by a return. This would work with DVD and CDpedia, both in the regular add window, with add first result automatically or the add multiple window.

I have heard the USBN dongle can be finicky, but I think this has a wired option fallback if that is the case.
