Conor wrote:Those are some quick updates all that in a few days. I forgot to mention that the favicons where a nice touch. I noticed the Gamepedia one last time as it stands out being a Pacman. The stars are a nice touch, but even nicer is the alignment on the credits, I hope you don't mind if I steal the setup on the credits for DVDpedia.
Yes, the lining up is neat. One thing Conor that I would like to request if you do borrow the idea is to make the names clickable and linked in to the rest of the collection, so that for example, if I click 'Angelina Jolie' (and who wouldn't!) it then lists all the other movies I have in which that actor appears. Same with the Director field and so on. I have this already in a Style Template called CollectionLinks but I have no idea where this template came from! Is it in fact part of DVDpedia rather than an add-on?

I find this to be an amazingly useful tool - I can click anyone in the cast list and immediately get all the other movies I own that have that person in them - including Director, Cinematographer, Editor etc. The only thing I would like to change in it is the lining up of the names in the way that April has done with the Fancy template.

Kind regards,

Keith

Okay, the books version is almost completely done, as you can see here:

http://www.twoevils.org/html/mybooks/

It's formatted a bit differently, so let me know if you run into any formatting issues, especially with IE and what not. It still needs a favicon as well. After that, it's just the CD version to go, and hopefully we'll be all done. :)

Great work! For your information about your Bookpedia template: the "Buy on Amazon"-Link is searching only in the "Movies & TV"-Section on Amazon.

Looking forward to the final version for Bookpedia.

Good catch! That's fixed now - I also removed the link to IMDb. I guess it's obvious which version I copied the template from. ;)

Hi,
I really like your template (and could need it for my Bookpedia). When do you think, we can get it (for testing and using). I'm really looking forward to it. Once more: thanks for your great work!

Test away! :D

Just throw that in your Bookpedia Templates folder.

Such excellent work! The layout is great. Very clean and concise and the searching is superb. I use it for all my pedias as you continue to add them. I'll test out the bookpedia version today and can't wait for the CD version (where most of my media collection lies).

So, today I found enough time to install your template. I only can say: WOW, great work! Thanks!

Oooooookay. I think things are finally good to go. Sorry for the wait - I've been spending my time on a different project.

But, never fear! Below is basically FancyIndex 2.0. It has tons of UI updates, speed updates, layout updates, bug fixes, and on and on. It also includes a print CSS file, so you can use it as a basic print template as well. I am trying to get pretty close to a web-based layout that looks as much like the pedias as possible.

http://www.twoevils.org/files/FancyIndex-Bookpedia.zip
http://www.twoevils.org/files/FancyIndex-CDpedia.zip
http://www.twoevils.org/files/FancyIndex-DVDpedia.zip
http://www.twoevils.org/files/FancyIndex-Gamepedia.zip

You can see them in action here:

http://www.twoevils.org/html/mybooks/
http://www.twoevils.org/html/mycds/
http://www.twoevils.org/html/mydvds/
http://www.twoevils.org/html/mygames/

I will say that there are still some IE (sigh) quirks that I haven't been able to figure out yet. Hate IE6/7! So, if I figure those out, there will probably be an update. If any other web designers want to fiddle around with it, you can see the rendering errors mostly in the Bookpedia listings, but also Gamepedia header listings (on the popup) and the like show up on multiple lines instead of just one. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. As I am working on those quirks, you might see some weird rendering quirks in the Gamepedia page.

Anyways, let me know what you think! :D

Erm, hold on... I think I may have found the IE bug. Okay, the templates are now updated and ready to go! :D

We are very excited about these amazing templates and will be including them in the next release of the program, to share with all. Now we will just have to start work on a Stainedglasspedia to keep track of your other talents.

Is it possible to include CollectionID in this template as that is how I find my DVD's in my collection.

Thanks

CollectionID is included in the popup windows for the template for all four applications. If you're not seeing it, which application are you using?

If you want it in the sortable list, you can choose to Edit the template and add it that way.

I love FancyIndex, thank you so much.

I have a couple of questions:

1.) How would I make the title sorting function ignore foreign articles (e.g. " der, die, das" and "le, la, les") ?

2.) On the details page the entry "Additional Information" links to Amazon and I would like to change the entry to read "Amazon Link" - where would I do that?

3.) Could you think of a way to easily update the list with new entries, without having to reupload everything. At the moment I'm doing it manually, but maybe there's a scripted solution?

Best,
Yann

Btw, my list of films is here: http"//itsacut.com/dvd
