Sync issue with new computer

I recently got a new MacBook Pro after my old one was bricked before I could get any of the data off of it. With this, I lost my CDPedia library, but I still had it in PocketPedia. However, two things happened that have me pretty disappointed in the product.
1.) The app store had no record of my previous purchase of the app - which I've owned for more than 10 years. Had to pay $18.99 to buy it again. Wasn't too angry since I have been a loyal fan of the app.
2.) When I went to sync my PocketPedia with my entire library to my new CDPedia, the new app wiped out my entire collection - 1,700+ albums worth.
I would think that when you SYNC something, it would transfer everything from both libraries to match. Instead, it just deleted my entire collection - more than a decade's worth of cataloging gone. I'm NOT happy.
