You're not doing anything wrong, your movie is being matched and it's adding your UPC to that match. I think you may have encountered an issue where it's returning the first match that does not match your media (DVD). Let me look at it some more to see how I can fix it.

Re: New Users Online Library

I've just added the ability to search UPC numbers for Moderators. In the DVDs UPC page just type in either a title or a UPC and the system will search both and return any matches.

Re: New Users Online Library

Thanks for the Dcard, Iron Man 3 is matching to the Blu-ray version because you have a UPC number (4010324200396) that is set for the Blu-ray version. You can see all the details for that movie in its edit page . We don't yet have an easy way to search for titles by UPC in the Admin but I'll create ...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

I've added the steps to use the Duplicates moderator page to the Moderator Guide.

I've also added a more complete example with screenshots here (there's a link at the bottom of the moderator's guide as well).

Re: New Users Online Library

If you don't accept DVD-entrys just because a 3D-BluRay has already been submitted, this does not sound very helpful to me. ...at least this (here DVD/BluRay of course) should be added here, too It is there already. Has been for a long time. I think, even if I'd prefer a solution that also consider...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

Hi guys, Good news, I was able to implement the distinction between CD and Vinyl formats for CDpedia on the doghouse. Now, if you submit an entry that already exists as CD but your format is Vinyl (and vice-versa) it will get inserted into our database so you can have different versions of the same ...

Re: New Users Online Library

by the way, why do you think it makes sense to use IMDB as match, since you said it's not even bound to a format, not to say the edition? We think it's a good idea because you are supplying a piece of information that is specific to that entry. Imagine if we didn't match IMDb numbers, not only woul...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

Thanks Waldbaer, The main reason we never added this was because no one actually asked for it. So now we have 2 votes for it so far, that's good to know, it helps use prioritize. By the way, for moderators there is already a merge duplicates for all the pedias, including CDpedia. 1. Go to the Albums...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

Hello Wanaka, This is something we could look into adding, but I would need some more data before I can push it up the queue. Personally, I'd be happy to add it for you, because tha'ts the kind of company we are: we like to keep our users happy :D However, as you are no doubt aware, there are always...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

Yes, you will get a CD match by default if the media doesn't match. We completely understand that CD and Vinyl are 2 very different formats and different products, but we needed a default format and CD proved the most popular for CDpedia users. We also felt it was better to give you a match, even if...

Re: Confusion with Dog Tags, Artists and Titles CD

Make sure you check the following numbers, any of them could cause the match (even if the artist is different): 1. UPC 2. ASIN 3. Freebase 4. discID These numbers are supposed to be unique but might get assigned to the wrong entry if people are not careful. If none of these is causing the issue, che...

Re: Library not syncing correctly (wrong items in my collect

A solution would be using the unique UPC number for each entry, that way we can match the UPC and return the proper one. The challenge here is that a lot of times people input the wrong UPC for an entry so it might be duplicated (once in the correct entry, once in he wrong one) and you might get the...

Re: New Users Online Library

It should be pretty fast. However, sometimes there's a queue for processing the entries. We run uploads and updates in the background so as not to impact the speed of the searches which is the most important part. So, let's say a user uploads their entire collection to CDpedia, and we get 300 new en...

Re: New Users Online Library

Yes, they are the same. UPC matching will return the first match so if an entry already has that UPC you will get that first match. As always, it's important to make sure the data is correct, often UPCs might be repeated when, theoretically, they should only exist for a single entry.
